An ode to James Bond movies from Dr. No to Casion Royale, Dolce & Gabbana's latest 'Alta Sartoria' collection, their couture equivalent for men, hosted a night on the on the battlements at Castel dell'Ovo. Lining the runway on velvet banquettes sat several hundred women, eagerly awaiting this luxurious wardrobe proposition for men. As Shirley Bassey belted out the words to Goldfinger, 93 male models showcased "clothing for men of means beyond the average joe’s wildest dreams". In an article by Vogue.com's Luke Leitch, the writer describes the opulence of the collection;
"The highest category in the pantheon of masculine attire is tailoring...The famous soft Neapolitan shoulder was draped with exquisetly ergonomic precision on suiting and tuxedos...Peacock tuxedo jackets came in manifold iridescent options: glittering black, white, or scarlet paillettes...the gray three-piece was a kiss blown to Sean Connery"
The luxurified collection epitomised the international playboy style characteristic of bond wardrobes, with references to the man-of-mystery himself from monogrammed JB shirts to catwalk adaptations of signature bond outfits from the kult movie series. The presentation ended with a BANG! in a five-minute firework display over the Bay of Naples.
